Village Hall Renovation Project

We embarked on a project to renovate the Village Hall to ensure it continues to be a valuable asset for the community of Fringford.  Here is a short summary of the project.

Why was this done this?

The side and rear flat-roof extensions built in 1960s were in a poor state of repair (subsidence and damp) and needed to be replaced to achieve the following:

• ensure hall remains accessible to the community for foreseeable future
• reduce ongoing operating costs
• improve accessibility and comfort for all users
• improve the layout of facilities for the convenience of users
• improve energy efficiency and sustainability of the hall

What did we do?

• Replaced side and rear extensions
• Reconfigured internal layout
• Insulated ceiling and replaced lighting in main hall
• Introduced compliant accessibility facilities
• Replaced kitchen cupboards and improving layout
• Created a larger Chinnery room as a multipurpose room to accommodate:
  • Permanent Fringford History display
  • Additional classes requiring wooden floor
  • Meeting room facility for local clubs and businesses

Energy Efficiency Measures:

Following a comprehensive survey and report conducted by TOE2 – Trust for Oxfordshire Environment – we are implemented the following recommendations:

• Insulation to main hall and new build
• LED lighting throughout
• Air source heating system
• Under floor heating to extension
• Solar panels to generate electricity to reduce running costs and sell surplus back to the grid
