Following on from the Spring Fayre, the second ride of the season was based on a route supplied by John Reader’s son and took the group around three counties over some undulating terrain.
The group, as usual, met at the village hall at 10:30 and comprised of Kerry and Grant Duplessis, John Reader, Peter Silver, Christine underwood and John Fargin.
The weather was favourable with a blue and cloudy sky and an inconsistent blustery wind that seemed to follow the group on the ride.
The route started by crossing the A4421 and heading along the Poundon road turning off to Chetwode and then on towards Fimere Aerodrome. Once there the group cycled along the bridleway to cross over the A421 into Tingewick and on into Water Stratford encountering the first of a series of the hills in the undulating section of the ride. Once in Water Stratford the group took a left turn and headed off to Finmere followed by Fulwell then through Mixbury and on into Evenley. Once in Evenley a welcoming refreshment stop was undertaken at The Red Lion where we were joined by Geoff Vernon and John Mayo. Once everyone was fully re hydrated the group headed back to Fringford and made the final stop at the Butchers Arms for another refreshing pint of two before finally dispersing.
Distance covered 18.2 miles at an average of 10.1 mph.
