You may have seen the temporary signs which have been put up around the Green.
One of the topics mentioned regularly in the Village Questionnaire last year was how highly the Green is valued by residents and visitors but that its deteriorating state is very disappointing.
As you can see from the photograph, vehicle parking and the wet weather conditions have taken their toll on the edge. It now looks worse than it ever has before.
Village Greens have a special protected status by Act of Parliament and our Village Green was officially designated under the Commons Registration Act in 1976; traffic regulations are different because of this. Whilst the Parish Council is able to grant temporary parking provided the user/organiser makes good any damage it is not desirable to turn part of it into a regular car park, particularly as adequate parking is available elsewhere.
All help in making sure that parking is within the Village Hall car park, on the grasscrete outside the Village Hall or along the Stratton Audley Road would be gratefully appreciated.
